NSM Gurucool was founded in 2011 by Narahari Bharadwaj in order to kindle an interest in math and spelling among elementary and middle school students. The organization provides coaching for students in the area of spelling and math and conducts annual competitions in spelling, math, vocabulary, public speaking, and essay writing. Narahari is currently a board member of WishWin.
Narahari participated in the 2011 Scripps National Spelling Bee and was one of two spellers to receive a perfect score on the written round in that year's national spelling bee, ultimately placing 14th in the nation. Months later, Narahari won the 2011 South Asian Spelling Bee national finals after correctly spelling the word schindylesis. Narahari also placed 2nd in the 2011 national North South Foundation spelling bee.
Narahari is currently an undergraduate at Yale University, studying computer science and economics. An avid mathematician, Narahari was a part of his high school math competition team, qualifying for the American Invitational Mathematical Examination. Now Narahari helps put together a math competition for high school students called the Math Majors of America Tournament for High Schools. Narahari also enjoys chess and is rated approximately 2100 in the United States Chess Federation, in addition to being a member of the Yale College Chess Club. Narahari also enjoys playing and watching basketball and is an ardent fan of the Dallas Mavericks.
